Denver Photographer — On-Location Press, Promo & Branding
On-location sessions use real environments—city streets, architecture, natural landscapes, venues or spaces connected to your project—to create images with more context, movement and personality.
These sessions work well for:
EPKs, websites and booking materials
Editorial press photos and artist branding
Release campaigns and social media content
Showing a connection to Denver, Boulder or another meaningful place
Creating several visual backgrounds within one walkable area
Artists who want a natural, cinematic or documentary feel
Avoiding a separate studio rental fee
Locations should match the size of the group, wardrobe, lighting needs and overall concept. Public access, weather, crowds, parking and permit requirements can affect what is possible, so we’ll plan the route and priorities before the session.
Denver Photographer — Venue & Show Promotion Sessions
Shooting at the venue connects the artist directly to the event, location or performance being promoted. These sessions can highlight the stage, marquee, architecture, backstage areas or other recognizable details tied to the show.
This approach works well for:
Upcoming concert announcements
Tour-date and ticket-promotion graphics
Venue websites and social media
Posters, flyers and event listings
Press releases and local media outreach
Sponsor and promoter materials
Creating content before doors open or during soundcheck
The artist or event organizer is responsible for securing access and approval from the venue. Available areas, timing, lighting and equipment rules will vary by location, and any independent use by the venue, promoter or other organization requires appropriate third-party licensing.
Denver Photographer — Press, Promo & Branding — All-White Cyc Studio
A white cyc wall curves seamlessly from the wall into the floor, creating a clean background with no visible corners or horizon line. The result keeps attention on the artist while giving the images a polished, consistent look across an entire press gallery.
These sessions are especially useful for:
EPKs, artist bios and professional press submissions
Websites, booking pages and streaming profiles
Social media posts that need clean, readable images
Posters, tour announcements and release graphics
Adding logos, headlines, dates or other graphic-design elements
Creating a visual break from busier location photography
Building a consistent library of group and individual portraits
The open background gives designers useful negative space for text and graphics, helping the final layout remain organized and readable.
A clean, high-contrast background also gives designers and retouchers a stronger starting point for isolating the subject, changing the background color or placing the artist into a larger composite design. Adobe specifically notes that background removal works best with strong subject-to-background contrast.
These images can stand alone as finished press photos or become flexible source material for future campaigns, graphics and promotional designs.
Denver Photographer — Press, Promo & Branding — Creative Color Edits from a White Cyc Session
Because these images begin on a clean white cyc wall, selected photographs can also be transformed with new background colors and creative treatments in post-production.
This is useful for:
Matching an album, single or campaign color palette
Creating multiple visual directions from one session
Adding variety to social media and promotional graphics
Giving designers stronger options for posters, announcements and digital artwork
Keeping the clean white originals while also receiving more stylized versions
White cyc sessions include the polished all-white edits. I may also create a small selection of unique color treatments, and you can request that one of those treatments be applied to another image you choose to download.
Denver Photographer — Press, Promo & Branding — Styling on Set
Studio sessions can be customized with colored lighting, instruments, props and client-supplied set pieces to create a more specific visual direction. Reference images help me plan lighting that supports your colors, music and overall campaign.
This approach works well for:
Album and single campaigns
EPKs and editorial press images
Posters and social media graphics
Showing instruments or performance identity
Creating several looks within one studio
Coordinating images with existing artwork or branding
I provide and operate the lighting. The artist or band supplies any instruments, props and set pieces and is responsible for transporting them to the studio. These ideas can be created in any studio with enough space, including a white cyc studio. I do not build sets, but I’m happy to work with your design or creative team to bring an established concept to life.
Denver Photographer — Press, Promo & Branding — Styled Home Studio Sessions
Home studios provide a ready-made environment with furniture, décor and distinct visual styles already in place. They’re a strong option for artists who want images with more atmosphere and personality than a plain backdrop, without building a custom set from scratch.
These sessions work well for:
EPKs, websites and artist branding
Editorial-style press photos
Album or release campaigns
Social media and promotional content
Multiple looks within one coordinated space
Creating images that feel lived-in, cinematic or lifestyle-driven
Clients choose and book the studio directly through Home Studio List, and the rental fee is separate from the photography session. Each location has its own rules, capacity, amenities and booking requirements, and some studios may have limited room for larger groups, equipment or outfit changes. I provide the lighting, posing and creative direction during the shoot. I do not build custom sets, but I’m happy to work within the studio’s existing design or collaborate with your creative team.
Denver Photographer — Press, Promo & Branding — EPK-Ready Press Images
An EPK does not use one universal image size. Different websites, streaming platforms, publications and booking pages crop images differently, so the goal is to create a flexible group of professional photographs that can be adapted across formats.
A strong EPK image library should include:
A horizontal group or artist portrait for banners, articles and website headers
A vertical portrait for press features, posters and social media
A centered, crop-safe image that works as a square profile photo
A wider composition with open space for dates, logos or graphic design
A tighter portrait that clearly shows the artist or full band
At least one clean image with no text, logos or promotional graphics added
Spotify currently requires at least 750 × 750 pixels for avatars, 2660 × 1140 for headers and 690 × 500 for gallery images. Apple Music prefers artist-profile images at 2400 × 2400 pixels or larger, which is why centered compositions and multiple orientations matter.
Your final EPK photographs should be current, high-resolution, visually consistent and easy for industry professionals to download and use. Apple specifically recommends including a variety of high-quality promotional images, while music-industry guidance commonly recommends both portrait and landscape orientations.
These image needs can be created through any of the session styles above—the setting changes the visual direction, while the composition and crop planning make the photographs EPK-ready.
